If your passport is about to expire, or cannot be extended, and you need to apply for a new passport with additional pages, you should provide the original passport, the legal identity certificate of the country of residence or the original valid residence certificate. If there is any change in the items filled in the original passport, it shall be indicated in the application form and relevant certificates shall be provided.
Chinese citizens with private ordinary passports who have lost or stolen passports abroad should immediately report to the Chinese embassy, consulate or other institutions authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the host country, declare the original passports invalid in local newspapers, and report to the local police station at the same time. When applying for reissuing a passport, the applicant shall provide relevant certificates of Chinese nationality, legal identity certificate or valid residence certificate of the country of residence, and a written report of the details of the loss or theft of the original passport, fill in relevant forms, and submit three recent two-inch bareheaded front photos. The relevant embassies, consulates or institutions can reissue passports after checking with the original licensing authority.
Chinese citizens who hold diplomatic passports, official passports, and ordinary passports for business purposes who have lost or stolen the above-mentioned passports abroad shall immediately report the relevant details in writing to the embassies and consulates of the People's Republic of China in the host country or other institutions authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
