17. Instructions for going abroad 1 - Preparation before going abroad

passport

Passports are identity documents issued by sovereign countries to their citizens for entry, exit and abroad. All personnel going abroad shall hold passports for inspection by the relevant authorities. No country is allowed to enter its territory without a passport. The inspection of passports in various countries is also stricter to prevent those who hold expired, invalid or even forged passports from entering the country.

China's passports are divided into diplomatic passports, official passports and ordinary passports. Ordinary passports are divided into ordinary passports for business and ordinary passports for private use. Diplomatic passports are mainly issued to personnel with certain ranks and personnel stationed abroad with diplomatic status. Official passports and ordinary passports for business are mainly issued to people who go abroad for work or study on business. Ordinary passports for private purposes are issued to Chinese nationals, overseas students and overseas personnel for private purposes.

The passport of the person who goes abroad on business shall be handled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or an organ authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The passports of personnel going abroad for private purposes shall be handled by the relevant authorities authorized by the Ministry of Public Security.

After obtaining the passport, check whether the name, date of birth and place are filled in correctly and sign on the signature box. Before going abroad, you should use your passport to apply for visas for the country you are going to and the country where you are stopover. You should use your passport to buy tickets for international flights, trains and ships, etc. In foreign countries, you should stay in a hotel with your passport and go through residence procedures.

The validity period of passport is generally five years, and the extension formalities shall be handled after the expiration.

Passports must be properly kept and shall not be defaced or altered, and loss shall be strictly prevented.

A visa is a permit issued by an official agency of a country for its own and foreign citizens to enter or stay in the country. Visas are printed on passports or other identity documents. If you go to a country without diplomatic relations, you can use a separate visa, called a separate paper visa, which is used at the same time as your passport.

Visas are classified into diplomatic, official and ordinary visas. The entry and exit visas are divided into entry, entry and exit, entry and exit and transit visas. There are also residence visas.

Before going abroad, the necessary visas must be completed, that is, the entry or exit visas of the countries to which they are going and the transit visas of the countries that stop in transit. If you hold a Chinese private ordinary passport, you must also apply for a visa from the issuing unit. To apply for a foreign visa, you must apply to the embassies and consulates of the relevant countries in China. If there are no embassies or consulates in China, and there is no embassy of a third country to handle visa business, you should go to the country where there is a visa authority for that country. In foreign countries, if you need to apply for a visa, you can ask my embassy or consulate to assist you.

Some countries provide. Those who stay for no more than 24 hours or a certain period of time may be exempted from applying for transit visas. Some countries may not apply for visas if they have mutual visa exemption agreements. For example, due to the agreement between China and North Korea, Romania, Yugoslavia and other countries, visas are exempted for those who hold ordinary passports for diplomatic, official and business purposes.

The contents of visas in different countries are basically the same, and they all stipulate the period of validity and duration of residence. If a transit visa passes through a country, it is valid for one month, and the duration of transit stay is limited to three days. That is to say, you can enter and leave the country on any day during the validity period, but you can only stay for three days. For another example, the entry and exit visa to a certain country is valid for half a year, the residence period is one month, and the entry and exit visa is once. That is, you can enter the country within half a year of validity and stay for one month within the validity of the visa. If it is more than one month, the visa extension formalities must be handled with the relevant units.

Pay attention to visa issues when going to any country, otherwise it will cause a lot of trouble.

The yellow book is the vaccination book. In order to prevent the spread of some infectious diseases internationally, all countries have made provisions on certain vaccinations required for foreigners to enter their national borders. There are mainly vaccination against vaccinia, cholera and yellow fever. The effective period of these vaccinations is: eight days after the initial inoculation of vaccinia, and three years from the day of the second inoculation. Cholera prevention is effective within six months from six days after vaccination. The prevention of yellow fever is effective within ten years from ten days after inoculation.

According to different periods, different regions and the distribution of the epidemic, countries have different requirements for vaccination. For example, smallpox has been basically controlled around the world, so many countries have begun not to require vaccinia vaccination. Sometimes cholera is found in a certain area, and people who enter or leave the area must be vaccinated against cholera. Therefore, personnel going abroad should make necessary understanding before going through vaccination procedures.

Before going abroad, you should choose a convenient, economical and reasonable route according to the actual situation. Airlines of various countries provide convenience for long-distance passengers to transfer within 24 hours, so this factor should be taken into account when selecting the time and place of transfer.

Tickets can be purchased through the travel agency or directly from the airline or business office of the flight. When purchasing the air ticket, confirm the seat. After getting the ticket, check whether the flight number, date, passing city and destination city filled in the ticket are correct, and whether the seats are confirmed (that is, "OK"). Only when the seat is "OK" can you take the plane.

If the traveller holds a connecting (or round-trip) ticket, even if the entire flight seat has been completed (OK) at the time of purchase, but because some airlines have different requirements on the time limit of connecting transportation, if the interval between taking a connecting (or return) flight exceeds the specified time limit, the "reconfirm" procedure of the flight seat must be completed in advance at the connecting (or return) location, otherwise it is equivalent to automatically giving up the confirmed seat, The carrier department can legally give the seat to other passengers. This is often overlooked. Therefore, special attention should be paid to understanding the regulations of the relevant airports and airlines to avoid causing difficulties to travel.

The tickets are all marked with names and are not transferable.

Generally, 20 kg of baggage can be checked free of charge by air (30 kg can be checked for first-class air tickets). A few airlines stipulate that 30 kg can be checked. The excess baggage will be charged. In recent years, in order to improve their competitiveness, some airlines have been flexible in charging for excess baggage, sometimes even not charging for excess baggage. However, in the case of full flight, the requirements are strict, so it is better not to be overweight when preparing luggage.

It is better to use a light and strong suitcase, which is easy to carry and is not afraid of collision. Personal baggage shall be clearly marked with Chinese and foreign names, destination, etc. Collective baggage can be uniformly marked for identification.

If there are too many and too large baggage, articles, instruments, etc., in addition to carry-on, they can also be separately checked in advance, and the freight is cheaper than general shipping.

When traveling abroad, you often need to buy clothes. You can know the climate conditions, customs and other conditions of the country you are going to in advance for reference when you buy clothes.
