Geographic location and advantages: Poland is located in the northeast of Central and Eastern Europe, with superior geographical location. Poland is located in the center of Europe, bordering Russia, Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine in the north and east, the Czech Republic and Slovakia in the south, and Germany in the west. It is a link between East and West Europe, a shortcut to other countries in Central and Eastern Europe, and a land and water transportation hub. With a population of nearly 40 million, Poland is the eighth largest country in Europe. Poland's superior geographical location has led to its radiation population possibly reaching 50% of the total population of Europe.
Poland is one of the countries with successful economic transition in Central and Eastern Europe. Poland's economy has maintained a high growth trend in recent years. The Polish government has taken measures to reduce the burden of enterprises, increase support for small and medium-sized enterprises, and expand investment in infrastructure construction to promote economic growth and employment. Poland's economy has gradually entered another period of rapid growth. According to the preliminary statistical data released by the Central Bureau of Statistics of Poland, Poland's GDP in 2010 was 1246.823 billion PLN, with a year-on-year increase of 5.1%, of which fixed asset investment increased by 5.8% and consumption expenditure increased by 6.1%.
In 2009, Poland attracted 8.38 billion euros of foreign direct investment, a decrease of 1.65 billion euros from 2008. In 2010, the Polish Bureau of Information and Foreign Investment will focus on attracting funds from Germany, the United Kingdom, France and the United States, mainly in the fields of automobile, aviation, chemical industry, business process outsourcing (BPO), etc. Poland is a member of the European Union, NATO, the United Nations Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and WTO.
The top five trading partners of Poland in 2009 were Germany, Italy, Russia, France and China. China has surpassed Russia as the second largest source of imports of Poland.
The textile and clothing industry occupies a very important position in Poland. According to the statistics of the Polish Textile and Clothing Association, in 2010, the turnover of Polish textile and clothing reached 10.8 billion euros (including 7.1 billion for textiles and 3.7 billion for clothing); Its exports amounted to 9.7 billion euros, while its imports amounted to 11.6 billion euros; In 2010, the EU exported textiles and clothing to Poland amounting to 5.6 billion euros; Germany remains Poland's largest textile and clothing trading partner, and products of German brands such as HUGO BOSS and BETTY BARCLAY account for a large proportion in the Polish sales market. Poland has a huge demand for textiles in the market. The main suppliers are Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, South Korea and China. At present, there are 46000 enterprises in the Polish garment processing industry, 90% of which are private enterprises, and there are only 700 enterprises with more than 50 employees. Although the Polish non-decoration industry is still fragmented, and the largest producer in time accounts for only a few percent of the market, the industry plays an important role in the entire Polish economy. According to the statistics of the important statistical bureau of Poland, the annual growth rate of textile and clothing consumption in Poland is more than 5%, and the per capita expenditure of clothing and footwear is 7% of the income.
The real beginning of foreign direct investment in Poland began in 1992. According to the statistics of the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Bureau, Poland attracted 2.83 billion US dollars of foreign direct investment in 1993. By the end of 2005, Poland had attracted about 93.2 billion US dollars of foreign direct investment. According to the report of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the amount of global foreign direct investment in 2004 was about 612 billion US dollars, of which 5.9%, about 36.5 billion US dollars were invested in Central and Eastern Europe. The country that attracts the most foreign direct investment in the region is Russia (27%), Poland ranks second (14%), followed by the Czech Republic (13%), Hungary (6%), Slovakia (4%), Romania (8%), and other Central and Eastern European countries (28%).
For foreign investment, the Polish government has four principles: the government treats foreign enterprises and domestic enterprises equally; Foreign investors can fully return to profit; There is no restriction on foreign investment in any field, and foreign investors can purchase real estate in Poland; Poland's preferential policies should comply with the laws and regulations of the European Union. In addition, if the fixed assets used by foreign investors for investment are not transferred within 3 years, import duties will be exempted; Enterprises in special economic zones enjoy duty-free treatment for imported machinery and equipment used for investment projects.
